Challenges Faced by the Beginner Guitarist
Learning to play guitar from Day 1 is a daunting task, as the student faces a variety of challenges that have to be solved before they can start to think about playing a single note:
- How do I tune the guitar?
- What are the parts of the guitar called?
- How do I read music for the guitar?
- How do I find the notes from the music on the guitar?
and when left to their own devices, the beginner is forced to resort to binge watching YouTube videos, and before they know it an hour has dissapeared and all they have to show for it is a poorly tuned guitar.
Our Guiding Principles
We believe that the purpose of learning guitar is to play music - so that’s what we help beginners do.
Right from the very first lesson, we’ll help you learn music, and every lesson you’ll go home being able to play something new.
Using a carefully curated beginner syllabus that has been developed from teaching 100s of students, you’ll be guided through not just learning to play songs, but through how the guitar works, learning:
- How to read guitar music (which is easier than it sounds)
- Beginner friendly chords
- Barre chords
- How to strum and rhythm
- Where the notes are on the guitar
so that you develop as a guitar player who can indepedently learn songs.
Our goal is to guide you to developing as a guitar player, and doing so through teaching you to play songs and music.
Customised Repertoire
The songs you’ll be learning are songs that you’re interested in learning. With a varied repertoire to draw from, if you’re interested in learning Metallica, we aren’t going to teach you Taylor Swift songs; and if you enjoy Ariana Grande, we won’t force you to learn Iron Maiden.
